Before you order
What people ask us most about the catalogue, shipping, timing, custom pieces, materials and data. Every piece is an artwork made to order: where a time or a price isn't fixed, we say so.
Catalogue and collections
- What does LEOPIXX3D make?
Busts, caricatures, heads and magnets inspired by sports champions, music icons and film and TV characters, 3D-printed in PLA and in many cases hand-painted by Leo, in Ivrea, Italy.
Besides the catalogue we make custom pieces, from your photos or from your own 3D file.
- Do you have collections?
For us a collection is a group of pieces on the same theme, and it matches a category of the catalogue: a bust devoted to tennis, for example, sits with the other tennis or sports pieces. You'll find the categories as filters above the catalogue.
- How big are the catalogue pieces?
It depends on the piece: from magnets of about 8 cm to busts of about 20 cm. The height of each piece is given on its page.
- Can I buy an unpainted piece and paint it myself?
Yes, you can buy pieces to paint yourself. Some models are sold only primed, with the base coat already applied: ready to be painted. For other pieces, write to us and we'll tell you if it's possible.
- Do you also sell the 3D files of your pieces?
As a rule, no: we sell the physical piece, printed and finished, and the 3D files of our models are not included. If you're interested in a file, write to us: we look at it case by case.
- Do you do gift wrapping?
Yes, on request: if the piece is a gift we prepare a dedicated box and, if you like, add a card. Just tell us in the order notes.
Either way, every piece ships in its own packaging, designed to get it to you in one piece.
Shipping
- Which countries do you ship to?
We ship within Italy, to every country in the European Union, to the United Kingdom and to Switzerland. The UK and Switzerland are outside the EU, so shipping there costs more.
- How much is shipping?
Italy €7.50, European Union €15.00, countries outside the EU €35.00. For some items shipping may be included in the price.
- Which courier do you use? Is the parcel tracked?
Within Italy we ship with GLS and BRT; to the rest of Europe and abroad with FedEx. Every parcel has a tracking number, which we send you by email or message as soon as it leaves.
- How long does delivery take?
From the moment the parcel ships: 3-5 working days in Italy, 7-10 in Europe, 10-15 outside the EU, depending on the courier.
On top of that comes the time to make the piece, which varies from one job to another.
- Outside the EU, who pays customs?
For shipments outside the European Union, any duties and customs charges are paid by the recipient, under the rules of the destination country: we can't predict them or pay them in advance.
- Can I collect my piece in person?
Yes, in and around Ivrea, by appointment: write to us and we'll arrange it. In-person collection is only available locally.
Timing
- How long before a catalogue piece ships?
It depends on the piece. Ours are artworks made to order: if the piece is already finished it ships straight away; otherwise it has to be printed and, for the painted version, hand-painted and left to dry.
Printing and painting vary a lot from one subject to another, so there's no single fixed time. The parcel ships when the piece is finished. If you have a date to meet, tell us before you order.
- How long does a custom piece, or printing my own model, take?
The production time is stated in the quote, because it depends on the job: printing, finishing, any painting and drying. This applies both to custom pieces and to printing a model of your own. While we work on it we keep you updated at every step.
- How quickly do you reply to a quote request?
Within 24 hours on working days. If nothing arrives, check your spam folder, then feel free to write again.
- Do you take urgent jobs?
If you have a date to meet, tell us straight away. If the job fits the time, nothing changes; if the deadline is very tight there may be a surcharge.
- Are there times of year when it takes longer?
Yes, around the holidays: Christmas, Easter and other festive dates. If the piece is a gift, order it well in advance.
Custom pieces
- What can I ask for as a custom piece?
Whatever you'd like printed. You can send us a print-ready file, for example an STL, which is typical for companies and technical projects, or some photographs: from the photos we create the 3D model ourselves.
- If I don't have a 3D file, can you make one? How much does it cost?
Yes, we create it from your photos. There's no fixed price: it depends on the size of the piece, the print quality and time, and the material. You'll find the exact cost in the quote.
- How many photos do you need, and what should they be like?
The more the better. We need at least three angles: front, side and back. Photos should be sharp and high-resolution, with no blur and nothing covering the subject.
- How big can a piece be?
A single piece can be up to about 25 cm tall and wide. Larger is possible by printing it in parts and gluing them together: the joins are visible up close, so for these jobs write to us first and we'll talk it through.
- Is there anything you don't make?
We don't reproduce objects protected by copyright or by trademarks we don't hold the rights to.
Mechanical or functional parts, on the other hand, we do make, for companies and individuals, as long as you send us the STL file.
Materials and care
- What materials do you print with?
PLA, a plant-based plastic. On request we also print in other materials such as PETG, with a surcharge for the material: in that case we'll advise you on which to choose.
- Are the pieces hand-painted?
Yes: the painted versions are hand-painted by Leo, entirely with Vallejo professional model paints. If a catalogue piece has no painted version, you can ask for one.
- Can I choose the colour?
Yes. A piece can be one colour, several colours or hand-painted. Before we make it we show you a preview in the colours you chose, so you can see how it will look.
- How big and how heavy is a bust?
A typical bust is about 20 cm tall and weighs between 250 and 300 grams. The weight changes with the size and with the internal infill chosen for printing.
- Is every piece unique?
Yes. The printing is very precise, but the painting is done by hand: two pieces of the same subject look very much alike without being identical.
- How should I look after a piece? Can I wash it?
No, don't wash it: water ruins the paint and the damage can't be undone. A light dusting is all it needs.
Keep it at room temperature, away from heat sources: that way the colours last and the PLA doesn't warp.
- If a piece breaks, can you repair it?
Yes, it can almost always be repaired, and it costs much less than making it again. Send us a photo: the price of the restoration depends on the damage. To give you an idea, repairing and repainting an arm on a 15 cm piece costs €10.
Payment
- How do I pay?
When you place your order you receive a PayPal link: you can pay with your PayPal account or with a card, even without an account. Your card details never pass through our site.
- Do you offer discounts?
Yes, on orders with several pieces and for regular customers. At certain times of year there are also discounts on the catalogue.
Your data and your files
- What do you do with the 3D files sent for a quote?
They're used only to assess the job and we don't show them to anyone. If the quote doesn't become an order we delete them after six months; if you'd like them deleted sooner, just tell us.
- And the files of pieces you've printed?
We keep them for two years, so you can reorder the same piece without sending anything again. Then we delete them.
- What do you do with the photos I send for a portrait?
They're used only to create the 3D model of your piece. We delete them as soon as the model is ready to print.
- Do you publish photos of the pieces you make?
Only with the permission of the person who ordered them, and for portraits also of the person portrayed. If you'd rather we didn't, the piece stays between us: just say so, even later.
- How long do you keep order details?
Name, address and contact details are kept as long as they're needed to handle the purchase and the warranty. Sales records are kept for the period required by law.
- Who can see my data?
Only Leo and Francesco, who run LEOPIXX3D. Nobody else.
- Can I ask you to delete my data?
Yes. At any time you can ask us to see, correct or delete your data by writing to info@leopixx3d.com. We reply within 15 days.
